My May 20 "Two Weeks and An Oven Timer" post was based on the Japanese principle of kaizen, which aims to grow productivity through continual small improvements rather than occasional giant leaps. There's a lot of good stuff out there on kaizen, but my favorite book on the subject is Robert Maurer's
One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way.
A wise, and more importantly, a brief and gentle little book.
If you, like me, expect so much out of yourself and your writing that you write less often, and less comfortably, than you could, you might find it helpful.
And those of us who have fled the computer to our bed, there to hide under our down comforter trying to make the voices that say WRITE THAT TWENTY PAGES NOW and WHY AREN'T YOU HEMINGWAY need all the help we can get.
